Welcomed a group of Japan Study Tour (JST) students from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (USA)
From May 18 (Saturday) to 25 (Saturday) of 2024, 15 students from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) in the United States visited the University of Nagano (UoN) as part of the short-term program "Japan Study Tour." UMSL and UoN worked together to create a week-long program as part of an academic agreement between the two universities. This was the first time since the university opened that UoN had accepted short-term students from abroad, and it was an excellent opportunity for many international exchange opportunities for students from both universities.
Many of the students who visited UoN this time were studying Japanese at UMSL, and they stayed at the Zozan Dormitory. There, they met other students and learned about Japanese culture, such as tea ceremony, flower arrangement, oyaki making, and Japanese cooking. During a presentation by UMSL students on their life in the U.S., UoN students asked questions about American life and culture. At the end of the program, many Japanese students wished that the UMSL students' visit was longer. Still, it was a good opportunity for cultural exchange for both sides.
