About Certificate of Eligibility (CoE)

You will need a "Certificate of Eligibility (CoE)" issued by the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice to apply for your Student Visa at the Japanese Embassy or consulates in your country. Once you are admitted, designated application form of CoE will be sent to the person in charge at their home universities. You must fill in the application form and e-mail it to the Global Center with required supporting documents by the due date. The Global Center will submit the CoE applications on your behalf to the Immigration Bureau. Please note that the CoE issuance schedule totally depends on the Immigration Bureau. Therefore, we cannot provide the exact issuance schedule or hasten the process under ANY circumstances.

Apply for Student Visa

After the Global Center receives the CoE from the Immigration Bureau, the original will be sent to the person in charge at your home university. Students will need to use the certificate and your valid passport to apply for a "Student Visa" at a Japanese embassy or consulate. Please consult with the Japanese Embassy/Consulate for any supporting documents. CoE DOES NOT REPLACE A STUDENT VISA. Please let us know once your visa is issued.

In case the Immigration Bureau does not issue the CoE, admission will be cancelled.
