The Department of Global Management Studies aims to instill the qualities and skills set forth in the Diploma Policy in order to achieve its educational objectives. Toward that end, we have put together an English Program for Global Mobility designed to cultivate a level of English language skills that enables the individual to understand the key points of what they hear and a curriculum of subjects offering a broad liberal arts education. Additionally, in our Professional Licensing Programs and Technical Training, we have established prerequisites that serve as an introduction. At the same time, we have put together a curriculum of “Foundational Major Courses” that includes overseas on-the-job training, “Specialized Foundational Courses” that include the basic subjects for each course, and “Advanced Courses for Majors” that include subjects for broadening specialized knowledge.
In Professional Licensing Programs and Technical Training, four categories have been established for the qualities and skills set forth in the department’s Diploma Policy, and the curriculum is designed to systematically instill these skills.

Understanding of diverse values, knowledge and powers of expression for exchange (communication skills), excellent sense of humanity and strong ethical values, autonomy, cooperativeness, logical thinking skills, mathematical thinking skills

Leadership, skills to identify problems in modern society, skills to understand various problems in corporate management

Skills to identify paths to achievement, knowledge and ability to take action for business, entrepreneurial knowledge and planning and proposal skills

Ability to recognize problems in local society, knowledge and planning skills for policy proposals, ability to take action as a leader in local society

The Department of Food and Health Sciences will put together a curriculum with the following characteristics to instill the qualities and skills set forth in the department’s Diploma Policy to achieve the educational objectives. In General Education, the focus will be on instilling English language skills and a liberal arts education. In Professional Licensing Programs and Technical Training, the focus will be on systematic and gradual pursuit of Dietician certification and Registered Dietician and Nutritionist licensing as well as nutrition teaching licensing.

• Educational program for learning broadly about the current food situation and issues in order to cultivate skills for identifying problems and proposing healthy, science-based diets
• Curriculum that emphasizes the relationship between the basics and application, with a systematic and gradual distribution of basic and specialized subjects within Professional Licensing Programs and Technical Training
• Holding of discussions in seminars for students to cultivate an attitude of learning in a self-directed manner and enhancement of experiments and practical training
• Distribution of subjects that cultivate communication skills and leadership in Professional Licensing Programs and Technical Training
• Graduation research to comprehensively improve logical and scientific thinking skills, and comprehensive seminars to improve practical skills based on basic knowledge and techniques
• Practical training ensuring varied content and time for developing versatile skills
• English Program for Global Mobility to develop a level of English language skills for understanding the key points of what is heard and Overseas Program to develop a broader perspective, global awareness, and the ability to act independently by experiencing another culture
• Small classes in which teachers and students come together to work on education and research

The Department of Child Development and Education will put together a curriculum with the following characteristics to instill the qualities and skills set forth in the department’s Diploma Policy to achieve the educational objectives. In General Education, students acquire English language skills and a liberal arts education, while in Professional Licensing Programs and Technical Training, they complete the basic subjects of their specialization. The curriculum emphasizes selective completion of subjects overall to develop flexible and diverse thinking skills, creative skills, and practical skills.

• Program for understanding the basic nature, culture, regional characteristics, and other aspects of the child care and early childhood educational environment and learning broadly about practical approaches to child care and education.
• English Program for Global Mobility to develop a level of English language skills for understanding the key points of what is heard and Overseas Program to develop a broader global perspective that includes understanding of child care in Japan as well as global awareness and the ability to act independently by experiencing another culture
• Curriculum for acquiring basic child care knowledge and skills and learning the knowledge, skills, organizational approach, etc. for providing child care that develops independence and expressiveness in children
• Extensive subjects for learning broadly about circumstances and issues surrounding children and child rearing and fostering a practical understanding of and problem-solving skills related to modern challenges
• Educational program for acquiring kindergarten or nursery teacher license to give back to society from a professional standpoint utilizing the knowledge and skills acquired through studies
• Extensive small interactive seminars to develop the ability to identify challenges, information gathering and analysis skills, expressiveness, communication skills, etc. through self-directed learning
